Social Sciences, Administration and Health Core
A General Studies Social Sciences, Administration, and Health (SSAH) associate’s degree prepares students for diverse transfer opportunities and allows students to begin their journey toward a variety of careers. While studying an area of their choice, students develop transferable skills that are marketable to any career path, such as critical thinking, inquiry and problem-solving, communication skills, real-world application and understanding of events and society, civic responsibilities and values, understanding of economic issues, social and emotional skills, quantitative and qualitative research, and teamwork.
The General Studies SSAH core allows students to explore courses in anthropology, criminal justice, economics, geography, gender studies, history, homeland security, health, hospitality management, political science, physical education, psychology, sociology, and women’s studies. Students use the SSAH core to prepare for an intended transfer major in anthropology, economics, homeland security, political science, psychology, sociology, or social work. Students can also customize course selections for additional pathways.

Program Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of historical and contemporary issues in the social and behavioral science academic disciplines.
- Apply quantitative and qualitative methods for understanding human behavior.
- Explain philosophical or cultural issues associated with different social and behavioral science disciplines.
- Analyze knowledge, theories, literature, and methods of a Social Sciences discipline.
- Communicate complex ideas using multiple modes of effective communication, including digital, written, oral and graphic communication.
- Utilize and apply multi-disciplinary methods of inquiry from the social and behavioral sciences in response to a problem, task, or experience.
- Reflect on and assess their own learning as it applies to themselves as scholars and engaged citizens rooted in the behavioral and social sciences.

Curriculum
General requirements to complete the General Studies SSAH associate’s degree include:
- a minimum of 60 credits
- an overall minimum of 15 credits at the 200-level of coursework
- a 2.0 GPA or higher
- completion of general education requirements (with one of these courses also fulfilling the global & cultural perspectives requirement)
- SSAH core program requirements (15 total credits from any of the SSAH discipline courses with at least 3 of the 15 credits at the 200-level)
- and electives.
Students can pursue a specific area of focus or design their own.
