Teaching and Learning Excellence

Teaching and Learning Excellence provides strategic leadership for Montgomery College's
collegewide efforts to strengthen teaching, faculty development, instructional innovation,
and student-centered learning. The portfolio brings together the Center for Teaching
and Learning (CTL) and the Institute for Part-Time Faculty Engagement and Support
(IPTFES) to provide coordinated support for faculty across disciplines, modalities,
campuses, and stages of their careers.
Through professional learning, instructional design, faculty engagement, consultation, and collaborative initiatives, Teaching and Learning Excellence helps faculty translate research, emerging practices, and institutional priorities into meaningful learning experiences for students. This work supports Montgomery College's Strategic Plan and Academic Master Plan by strengthening teaching excellence, expanding high-impact and inclusive teaching practices, supporting faculty success, and creating effective learning environments for all students.
Together, CTL and IPTFES provide an integrated faculty support ecosystem that recognizes the different needs of full-time and part-time faculty while creating opportunities for shared learning, collaboration, and innovation. The portfolio works closely with academic leaders, faculty, staff, governance groups, and cross-divisional partners to identify emerging needs, build institutional capacity, and develop practical and scalable approaches to teaching and learning.
